Accessibility statement
We want every student and academic to be able to use Jotter, whatever device or assistive technology they rely on.

Our commitment
Jotter is an interactive teaching platform used in higher education, so accessibility matters to us. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard UK public sector bodies are held to under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018, across both the marketing site (jotter.education) and the app (app.jotter.education), including the student activity player.
How accessible Jotter is
Jotter is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. In particular, you should be able to:
- Move through the whole platform by keyboard, with a clear, visible focus outline at every step.
- Use it with a screen reader: activity questions announce whether your answer was right, the model answer is read out, your progress is reported, and live messages (errors, "saved", going offline) are spoken.
- Complete every activity without a mouse, including the drag-and-drop "sort" activities: they also work by tapping, or by keyboard (focus a card and press Enter, then focus a column and press Enter).
- Zoom to 200%, and have content reflow on a phone, without losing information or function.
- Turn on "reduce motion" in your device settings. Jotter then stops its animations and smooth scrolling.
- Read text comfortably: colour combinations meet the AA contrast minimum.
Students never need an account (activities run anonymously), so there are no sign-in barriers to taking part.
Tell us if you have a problem
If you find something you can't use, or you need information from Jotter in a different format, email hello@jotter.education. Tell us the page or activity, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within two working days and to give you an accessible alternative wherever we can. You can also report it from inside the app: use the Give feedback button and choose “An accessibility issue”.
